Calligraphy

Experience Watercolor
Experience the exciting medium of watercolor with fun, hands-on activities. Learn about types of washes and application, value, color, and creating texture. If you have never held a brush in your hands before or limited skills but a burning desire to paint, this class is designed for you in mind. Graduates of past classes who feel ready for the next phrase of watercolor are invited to continue their artistic journey with inspiring weekly challenges. (Warning: Once you experience the joy, thrill, and excitement of the fascinating world of watercolors, you could become addicted for life.) Knitting
The art of knitting is making a comeback. Participants will master the beginning skills of knitting, such as casting on, binding off, and the knit and purl stitch. Participants will learn how to complete one of the following projects: hats, mittens, scarves, felting. Please bring a pair of number ten knitting needles and a skein of yarn.

Painting, Oil Beginners
A beginners course in oil painting. The basics of oil painting that will be covered include: basic beginner instruction, transferring a drawing to canvas, various brush strokes, mixing, color study, applied techniques, proportion and design. Come finish your sampler quilt or learn new appliqué techniques. New techniques are mariners compass, mirror imaging, machine-pieced log cabin quilts (if you can bring your own machine). Embellishments for crazy quilt blocks and for sweat shirts, jackets. All techniques can be used to create pillows, table runners, wall quilts, or bed quilts. Bring in projects that you are currently working on.

Scrapbooking 101
Preserve your memories. Scrapbooking is a unique combination of craft and science using products designed to preserve your photos. Learn what to use and what to avoid; how to be creative with punch art, stickers, tag art, and borders; how to create a family history heirloom scrapbook; and much more. Scrapbook supplies are available for purchase at class. Just bring some photos and your enthusiasm. Lab fee of $10.00 is due the first night of class.

Twelve Weeks of Christmas
It's time to think about Christmas. So let's set aside the next twelve weeks and become creative. Participants in this class will be creating ornaments or gifts, recycling Christmas cards, making a lighted Snowman and decorating a tree. These are a few of the projects what we will make in this class. On the first night the instructor will have a project ready for you to become creative and a supply list for the remaining weeks will be available.

Stitchery: Counted Cross Stitch, Needlepoint, and Crewel Embroidery
Take your pick or try some of all three forms of needlework. This class offers counted cross stitch, needlepoint, and crewel embroidery. Create gifts for the special people in your life. Needlework is a great "take along" project you can work on anywhere you go. It is a relaxing, stress reducing hobby. Class members will provide their own supplies, including fabric and needles. Estimated cost of supplies is $15 and up.

Stained Glass
Create a stained glass item of your choosing. Learn how to cut, grind, foil, and solder glass to employ many more beautiful projects in the future. No prior experience needed. Wear work clothes and bring a tote bag for supplies. Class members will provide their own supplies, estimated cost of supplies is $15 plus the cost of glass. Choose either the afternoon or evening class.

Basket Making
All Levels Welcome! This is a fun class, using reed to weave baskets. Learn new techniques along with lots of new ideas. Come join the group! Material list will be distributed at the first class.

Scrapbooking (NEW)
You will learn creative ways to preserve family photos using archival-safe products. We will use a variety of materials and learn several new techniques each week. Come prepared to complete 2-3 projects per week! Basic supplies needed: 12-inch paper trimmer, scissors, black journaling pen, corner rounder, black ink pad and scrapbook adhesives. Supplies will be available at class. A lab fee of $4 will be paid to instructor each week for projects.

Watercolor Exploratory Class (NEW)
This very basic class is designed for aspiring artists or artists with limited skills to help them on their way to competency in watercolors. Through hands-on activities, students will learn to handle brushes, washes, texturing techniques, basic color theory, and composition and design principles. Stressing fun and not perfection, the students will be introduced to techniques and “tricks of the trade” in preparation for the last class where they will work independently on a simple landscape scene. A $5 Lab Fee will be collected at the first class.
