“Civil War Sand Art Drawings” |
| Mrs. MacDonald’s 5th grade class, Smithfield School was studying the Civil War. This was a wonderful opportunity to explore what the students learn and to translate their ideas to a visual drawing. Slavery, nurses, famous leaders, the Confederates, the Union, and other symbolism were discussed. The art medium was colored sand which created vivid colors and texture. Employing the elements and principles of art, students “emphasized” their ideas while using social studies as their resource. |
