Clay Shoe Designs: Fashion or Sport
Skowhegan Area Middle School
Art teacher: F. Chin

Exploratory art students at SAMS were given an imaginary role as a Shoe Designer. You have been just hired as a shoe designer for a big company. Your assignment is to create a new line of shoes. It can be for sports, casual or dress. Students made a sketch of the shoe with 3 views: side view, front view and a ¾ view. Use the laptop and the World Wide Web to get ideas about presentation of product, advertisement and multi-views of the shoes. The drawings will help the artist in creating the shoe with clay. When completed they must create a name for the shoe, a slogan (a catchy phase or tune that will describe the shoe) and a logo design (a drawing that visually identify the product). The final outcome will include a view of the shoe, a description of the shoe, the logo design, and the clay sculptured shoe mounted on cardboard. Emphasis in this activity:

1. Career in art design.
2. Understand marketing and advertisement of a product.
3. Conception (sketch/drawing) and creating a 3-deminsional form
