WATERCOLOR PAINTINGS
8th grade exploratory art opened the school year with a review of the elements and principles of art. Elements and principles of art are the fundamental basis for organizing a successful composition. Students studied the various subject or topics of art called “genres”; landscapes, seascapes, portraits, still life, sculpture and surrealistic. Famous artist and their works were shown to give inspiration and focus. A watercolor painting was the art project in representing student’s understanding. This project meet the following MLR requirements:
MLR (Maine Learning Results) content areas with the watercolor painting activity
1. Aesthetics and criticism- Students will select media and communicate ideas of distance and movement in their painting.
2. Media, tools, techniques & process-…using elements, principles & expressive qualities in art forms and genres. Students will be aware of incorporating the elements and some principles of art to their watercolor painting.
3. Application of creative process-students will use their experience and inspiration of famous artist and their work in creating an original work of art. |
