After studying different types of lines, shapes, and textures around them,
2nd and 3rd graders put their imaginations to the test. They invented their
own “texture bugs” -- bugs containing as many designs and types of
lines on them as possible. They then tried a similar technique for the
background: using crayons, they first covered their paper with different types
of lines, and then found out what happened when they used watercolor over the
crayons. The crayon resisted the watercolor and made even more interesting
patterns and textures.
