Cubist Leaf Art
Amy Crosby Art Teacher
4th Grade - Bloomfield School
example

While learning about the abstract art movement, we discovered that the cubist artists felt that the essence of an object could only be captured by showing it from multiple points of view – all angles – at the same time. After closely studying the works of artists like Pablo Picasso, Joan Miro, and Georges Braque, we created our own abstract art.  We traced real leaves over and over again, overlapping and going off the page, to create a repetitive composition of new shapes.  Can you see any familiar or recognizable shapes in these works of art?
