Frank Chin, art teacher and mentor, MSAD 54, Skowhegan, ME

While a student at University of Maine, Farmington, Laura Damon completed her student teaching with Mr. Chin, MSAD 54, Skowhegan elementary art teacher.

During September and October 2007, she student taught with Ms. Mary Stewart, a 6th grade classroom teacher at Margaret Chase Elementary School.  In November and December, Ms. Damon worked with Mr. Chin, integrating her Ghana, African experience with the visual arts.

During Ms. Damon’s first week with Mr. Chin, she observed the art classes in Skowhegan.  In the second week,  she began designing and  teaching her own art lessons for a variety of grade levels.  In her final week,  Ms. Damon successfully taught all 5 schools,  managed the schedule, organized supplies and taught to the Learning Results, MSAD 54 art curriculum and the Maine Standards.
