A typical Reading Recovery lesson follows this format:
1) The student reads 2 or 3 books that he/she has read before.
2) The student reads yesterday's new book while I keep a record of the reading.
3) I help the student learn how to work with words. The lesson for the
day might be adding -ed to words, for example.
4) I help the student plan and record a one or two sentence story.
5) I write the student's sentence on a sentence strip and cut it apart. The
student practices putting the sentence back together and then takes this sentence
home to practice with you.
6) The student reads a new book after I introduce the story to him/her.
