Elizabeth Cady Stanton was born November 12, 1815 in Jonhstown, New York. Her father, Danial Cady Stanton, was an attorney who served a term in congress and later became a judge. Margart Livingston Cady Stanton was a daughter of colonel James Livingston an officer of the Revolutionary War. Herry Brewster Stanton Jr., Gerrit Smith Stanton, and Theodore Weld Stanton were her three brothers.
