If your child receives help in READING

Reading groups are currently working in trade books or the Soar to Success Reading program.  Reading groups receive homework regularly on Monday through Thursday nights.

Student receiving Resource Room Reading Services are required to complete for HOMEWORK: read twenty (20) minutes each night, Monday through Thursday and complete an entry in their reading journal.

If your child receives help in SPELLING

If your child receives resource room help in reading, then he/she also participates in our spelling program, “Power Words for Writing”.

Students receive spelling lists on Monday, and need to complete one page per night for homework.  Spelling tests are usually on Thursdays.

If your child receives help in WRITING

Students just completed family stories using the story boarding style designed by author Roger Essley.  Writers are now working on a friendly letter unit.  In December, we will be composing winter/holiday poems.  Look for finished poems on our bulletin board across from rm. 7.

If your child receives help in
MATH

Math students are using a new series, Math Diagnosis and Intervention System, developed by Scott Foresman and Addison Wesley.  This math series is designed to follow the regular education curriculum’s math program, but provides new instruction slowly with frequent repetition of each skill.  Each student is working on an individualized program in this series.
