Mercer was incorporated on June 22, 1804. It is surrounded by New Sharon, Starks, Norridgewock, Smithfield, and Rome. Our class had a great time learning about the history of Mercer by visiting some interesting places and meeting people who love to tell stories about what Mercer was like many years ago. Our research was also taken from The History of Mercer, Maine 1782-1974 by Harold Owens Smith and a Pictorial History of Mercer,Maine Past & Present 1804-1985 by the Mercer Historical Society Click on one of the places we visited on our local history bus tour to learn more about this great community. |
