Mrs .Zarcone taught us about Sunset Camps on North Pond in Smithfield. She told us it was built in the 1900 s . A person named Mr. Groves built most of the camps. He also designed and built a water slide for the land. The water slide was made of wood and was built at a cost of $ 1,800. There is no water slide there now. The wooden slide was destroyed by a flash hurricane in 1941. Sunset Camps was and still is a place for fun and entertainment. Many families come back every year to fish ,swim and go boating on North Pond. Mr. and Mrs. Zarcone are the current owners of Sunset Camps. They have a snack bar and a covered bridge. If you visit don't forget to look at the pictures inside the bridge. They take care of this great place! Call them if you would like to stay at one of their camps. |
