THE PECCARY
What does a peccary look like?
The peccary has a big head and is shy too. It has very sharp
teeth. We do not want to mess with that animal. It has
prickly fur. It has a thin body. Peccaries eat smaller
animals and plants like the cactus flower. The peccary
chases its prey at night because it's nocturnal. Its enemies
are the jaguar, mountain lion, and the cougar. The peccary
lives in the Sahara Desert and American Desert.

THE DESERT TORTOISE
The desert tortoise eats plants and it never drinks. It
stores water in its two bladders. His bladders are tucked
under its upper shell. It never grows very big. They're less
than a foot long. The dersert tortoise has stumpy legs. The
desert tortoise lives in California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona,
and Mexico. It lives on land. It lives for more than 100
years. You have to wait 100 days for a baby tortoise egg to
hatch. The desert tortoise is in the reptile family.
