Restricting Domain

Restricting Domain -
This is what you do when you fail the horizontal line test.

The red part is the section that is restricted. This area is removed because the graph has not passed the horizontal line test; therefore, an inverse function cannot be derived. However, by restricting the domain (“x >0") an inverse can be. The original equation for the graph is y= and the inverse is y=√x. This is displayed in the graph to the left.
