This lesson is designed to provide you with an understanding of algebraic structure and to introduce you to complex situations. Most of the work for this unit deals with polynomials, with an emphasis on symbolic manipulations.

  • To be able to describe and use the concepts of zeroes and end behavior of different functions.
  • To be able to use polynomial and rational functions to model physical observations.
  • To be able to describe and illustrate relationships between graphs of polynomials or rational functions with its symbolic representation.
  • To be able to develop facility with manipulation and reasoning about polynomials and rational symbolic representations.
  • To be able to determine all complex number roots of polynomials and be able to perform mathematical operations on them.
