Manifesto
of Iver Lofving
|
I believe that art should be personal. My art
is a reflection of the world I live in, seen through my eyes.
It is filtered through my brain and put back into the work.
I also believe that my art should be accessible, so that
people who have other experiences can connect with it as
well.
I am from New York State and have lived both in the country and in the city.
I have lived in at least 3 different cultures and speak 3 languages. Because
of this I am aware that reality is agreed perception. Different places have different
realities. I have also seen our culture from afar. It has altered my perception
of it. I am aware of my place in the world, in my culture and in nature. I have
always been fascinated by nature. It is one of the reasons I came to live in
Maine.
Another reason that I live in Maine is that I like to be able to do many things.
I am a printmaker, a Maine Guide, a tree farmer and always a teacher.
As an artist
I believe that I can create my own painting of my world. Part of my palette includes
the students that I teach. I include them in the creative process. I encourage
them in their creations.
They influence me in mine.
Welcome to my world! |
