SENIOR NEWS:

There will be a student council and class officers meeting on Friday, Septemeber 22nd at 7:45 AM in O5.

 

Please submit your senior portraits by Friday, October 6th.

Baby pictures and candids – due Friday, October 6th.

Senior Brag Sheets – due Friday, October 6th.

Publication Permission Form – due Friday, October 6th.

Digital copies of all of your pictures must be submitted either by:

1. Leaving a labeled CD or flash drive with your photos to Mrs. Fitzmaurice in Blue or in the drop box in the office. Please indicate which photo is your senior photo, baby photo, remember when photos (ex. Suzy Jones Senior Pic.; Suzy Jones Baby Pic.; Remember When Photos (make a folder))

2. Have your photographer send the pictures to the ATTN: of Mrs. Fitzmaurice.

3. Uploading your photos directly to the Jostens uploading website: images.jostens.com - make sure they are labeled as stated under #1 option. You received a handout (packet) in Government class explaining the details, the user ID and password needed to upload photos to the SAHS Jostens Website.

4. If you are unable to scan photos, put photos on a disc, or upload photos directly to the yearbook website, please provide photos to Mrs. Fitzmaurice to scan. This should be a last resort!!

Please be sure to get your senior portraits, baby pictures, and all other photos that you think would be useful for the yearbook, and your individual senior brag sheet in by Friday, October 6th.

 

The Class of 2019 will be putting on the Homecoming Dance on Saturday, September 30th, from 7:00-10:00PM in the SAHS Cafeteria. The cost of the dance is $5 per person. The dress code for this dance is semi-formal. If you would like to bring a guest from another high school, please fill-out and pass-in the“ Dance Guest Request Form" in the Main Office no later than Wednesday, September 27th.

 

The lists of seniors who are eligible for National Honor Society membership are posted outside the Guidance Office.  See Mrs. Ryan or Mrs. Bigelow with any questions and/or for a Student Profile.  Completed Profiles are due Friday, October 13 no later than 2:30 PM. 

Representatives from Colby College and Saint Joseph’s College will visit the high school this week.  Interested juniors and seniors may sign up in the Guidance Office. 

Seniors: anyone interested in working in the Senior Booth for home football games and/or donating food for it should see a class officer (Halie Judkins, Alex Higgins, Carey Lee, or Julia Steeves) or visit the class Facebook page to sign up. We have home games on 9/29, 10/13 and you can volunteer to work for just 1/2 or an entire game.

Seniors: Triple D’s Redemption Center in Norridgewock has been gracious enough to open up an on-going bottle drive for us. Please spread the word that people who would like to donate bottles to our class should take their bottles there (same driveway as Oosoola Park) and tell them they are for the Class of 2018.

 

JUNIOR NEWS

SOPHOMORE

Class Dues are $40.00 and can be paid in full or in increments. Money can be turned into Mr. Clark in O11.

Sophomore class float decorating will happen after school on Monday September 25th here at the high school. All students are invited to help. Lets get everyone involved.

ALL SOPHOMORES, Gym decorating will occur on Thursday the 27th from 4-8 in the green section of the high school. Again the more people are involved the better the decorations will be. See Mr. Martin, Ms. Brown, or one of your class officers to see what you can do to help.

 

FRESHMAN NEWS:

The Freshman float will be worked on Saturday, September 23rd from 12 to 3 pm. Please see a class officer or Mrs. Fitzmaurice for location and directions.

Class Dues are $40.00 and can be paid in full or in increments.

 

There is a facebook page that freshman can join if they would like to keep up to date with announcements for their class. It's called Skowhegan Class of 2020.

Media Center News:

-September 24-30 is “Banned Books Week” in the Media Center. Come celebrate the freedom to read by checking out a “banned book”!

-Book Club will meet after school on Tuesday, October 3. If you are interested, please see Mr. LaFlamme in the Media Center for more information.

-You have until this coming Tuesday, September 26 to complete this month’s Research Challenge. Give it a try!

Homecoming Week of September 25th through September 30th

Homecoming is a time to celebrate all fall sports and to gather as a whole school for a large celebration of our school.

Saturday, September 30th Homecoming Semi-Formal Dance: 7-10 pm sponsored by the junior class. Cost $5.00 per person.

There will be a class competition involving dress up days – each day your block 2 teacher will count the number of students dressed up for the particular dress up day. At the end of the week they will forward the total to student council and the grade level with the most students having participated in dress up days throughout the week will win. The winning grade level will be allowed to enter the football game Friday night for free as long as you have your Student ID.

 

Float Decorating:

Each class should have a float for the homecoming parade. Students will NOT be

allowed to ride on the floats, they will be walking as a class behind their respective float.

Theme: SCHOOL SPIRIT - If students are interested in helping out with this they should see their class advisors to find out details.

Parade/Bonfire:

Wednesday night (9/27) from 7-8 pm

Parade line up will begin at 6:45 in the back parking lot of the Federated Church on the Island and the Chapter 11 parking lot. We are asking that students do not park in this area. We need to have room for floats and teams to organize and line up. Please park at the Dollar Store parking lot or the Chamber of Commerce parking lot and walk over for the parade line up.

Parade will begin at 7:00pm ending with a bonfire rally at the high school.

Student Pickup from Bonfire = Students will be ready to be picked up at 8 pm. Please make arrangements to have your child picked up from the bonfire at 8 pm or they will be asked to leave school grounds.

Class Decorating:

Thursday night (9/28) from 4-8 pm

Rally:

Friday (9/29) beginning at 1:15

Any student interested in doing Big Brother Big Sister, please see Mrs. Saucier in the office for an application.

Math Team Announcement:

Math Team will be meeting on Wednesday mornings at 7:15am in G2 and after school until 3:00pm in G3. Come in if you can to get support on your practice problems if you have the time. It is never to late to join, see Mr. Hale or Mr. Small in the Green section if you have any questions!

 

Class Officers – (Elected Yearly) work with their class advisor and help with planning fundraising for their class, events, organizing class homecoming float for parade, class decorating, plan of prom junior year, etc. The money is raised for events is used for graduation events such as class night, class t-shirts, project graduation, etc. Class officers attend class meetings….they can attend student council meetings as well but are not allowed to vote.

Class Student Council Members – (Elected Yearly) work with the student council advisors and student council members from each class to assist in the management of the school, good citizenship, improve overall atmosphere of school, offer student forum for student expression, plan homecoming events, rally, dress up days, themes, etc. Also, we do various fundraising for charity. Student Council members attend student council meeting and then attend class grade level meetings to bring the information back.
