Students prepared for this residency
by creating a series of contour line drawings of cabbage, fruits and other vegetables
all using a square format and concentrating on composition. They then created
value studies of the same fruits and veggies. The last part of the in class
project with Ms. Perelka concentrated on using color and developing the final
compositions. This unit was done over a series of classes and comprised
the bulk of the first six weeks of the last trimester.
As you can see, the works are
beautiful. The students are very proud of them and are very anxious to
take them home. They are currently on display in the gallery space across
from the library at S.A.M.S.
