These educational materials are designed to guide teachers through a unit study based on the award winning film, There Ought To Be A Law. This DVD is available to order on this website. Through Cathy Crowley's personal journey of civic activism, students experience the political process of introducing a bill and following it from committee to vote, first- hand. This unit begins with students reviewing the history and context of the Second Amendment of the Constitution, follows Cathy's bill through the legislative process with all of its obstacles and challenges, and culminates in student-designed projects that incorporate what they have learned. The lessons and activities in this unit of study focus on 21st century skills, integrating technology as an essential tool for both teaching and learning. |
