Introduction to the Canada iMovie Project

Purpose: The purpose of this project is for you to learn all you can about a province or territory in Canada. You will be learning about Canada’s climate, history, economy, culture, and so much more. You will then become experts on the iMovie program. You and your partner will use the research gathered over one of the provinces or territories to create an iMovie.

Process: Before you begin creating your iMovie, you will need to gather research by doing the following:

1. Complete a research guide by . . .
- Choosing a destination from the list of Canadian destinations around which your iMovie will be centered.
- Selectiing 5 topics from the research guide, around which your information will be focused.

2. Research the destination of your choice by . . .
-Reading reference materials in the classroom and library
-Navigating the Internet and Worldbook
-Utilizing classnotes and handouts
-Notetaking (to be done by hand)

3. Create a layout of your iMovie by . . .
-Organizing your notes
-Deciding the number of clips you will need to communicate the information in your notes onto the screen
-Deciding the pictures and music you will need to enhance the information in your notes.
-Developing a script from the research gathered by you and your partner.

Creating your iMovie: iMovie is a very simple program to use once you get the hang of it. Mrs. Richter will visit our class to demonstrate the process. Please visit my web page to view polished iMovies made by last year’s seventh graders. After this, you will be on your own to experiment and design your project.
