Maine Student Book Award Fun!
Maine Student Book Award Books are NOW AVAILABLE at Skowhegan Area Middle School Library Media Center!
Have you ever walked into your school library and asked the librarian where you might find the GOOD books??? Beginning in the Fall 2000, S.A.M.S. Library Media Center will purchase all the books which are included in the Maine Student Book Award list. You may ask, "What is the Maine Student Book Award (M.S.B.A.)???"
A committee of kids your age (guided by Librarians and Maine Reading Association members), read lots of newly published books for kids in grades 4 - 8. These kids then vote for their favorites. After all, wouldn't you prefer to read books which are selected by kids your age? If you read at least three of these books during the school year, you may cast your vote in the Spring along with all the other kids who are participating all over Maine. Once the votes are tallied, your Librarian will announce the state winner! Time to celebrate at the MSBA party which happens in our library! (Will the book which gets the most votes from S.A.M.S. students be voted the favorite for the whole state of Maine???)
And oh.....by the way.....you can nominate (suggest) a book to be considered for next year's list!
See Mrs. Perkins or Mrs. Blaisdell (your Librarians) for more INFO!
