Deer Laws:

During archery seasons, each hunter is allowed to bag bucks only in certain distric, but in other areas you can still bag deer of both genders. Archery season in Maine is from October 2nd through October 31. Each hunter can bag only one deer a year, unless they take place in the Extended Archery Season or by only bagging one bonus antlerless deer or by having a superpack antlerless deer permit.During muzzleloading season, December 1st through December 6th and December 8th through December 13th, a hunter needs a muzzleloading permit, all other laws are the same. Firearms season allows the use of bow and arrow, crossbows, firearms, and muzzleloaders, goes from November 3rd through November 29th. Firearms season also has a special day, November 1st, for Maine residents to hunt during.

Bear Laws:

The general hunting season for bears goes from August 25th to November 29th. Hunting with bait is allowed from August 25th through September 20th. Hunting with dogs can be done legally from September 8th until October 31st. Hunters are allowed one bear a year. The permit to hunt for bears costs $27.00 for Maine citizens and $67.00 for out of state hunters.

Moose Laws:

Permits for moose are done like the lottery. Name are put in and randomly drawn each year. The time limit you are supposed to have your "lottery ticket" in by was extended from May 1st to May 15th when they computerized the drawing process in 2009. Seasons for moose are September 22 to September 27th, October 13th to October 18th, November 3 to November 29th with a citizen's day on November 1st.

Wild Turkey and Fall Wild Turkey Laws:

Wild turkey has a special day that only children can hunt for them during, which is April 26th. If an adult buys a Spring turkey permit, they are allowed to hunt in either Season A or Season B. People with birth years ending with even numbers will hunt in Season A and people with odd numbered birth years will hunt in Season B. Hunters are allowed one bearded wild turkey per season and can only hunt from a half hour before sunrise until Noon local time during the hunting season. A Spring Wild Turkey Hunting Permit is required to hunt for Wild turkey during this season. Fall Wild Trukey season is archery only until October 18th through October 24th, when hunters are allowed to use shotguns as well. During the fall season, one turkey of either sex at any age is permitted. Hunter are allowed to hunt from a half hour before sunrise until a half hour after sunset. A fall permit and an archery permit is required to hunt for wild turkeys during the fall seasons.

 

 

Pheasant, Ruffled Grouse (Partridge), and Bobwhite Quail Laws:

Hunting season for these birds goes from October 1st until December 31st. You can kill two Pheasant a day and a total of four for the entire season. Grouse and Quail have a daily bag limit of four and a season limit of eight birds each. In some counties, however, a permit is required in addition to a regular hunting license to hunt or possess pheasants.

Black Bear: This bear is comparable to a small sedan in weight.

 

Deer: Deer are animals that are slightly larger than a Great Dane dog and weigh much more than one.
Moose: Moose are large mammals with antlers and are about the size of a large horse.
Squirrel: Squirrels are about the size of a common rat but they can get to about the size of a cat.

 

 

Fox: Foxes are about the size of a medium sized dog.
