Farm Description:
Northwood Naturals is an organic acre and a half farm started
in the 1970's. It is a small, beautiful, all natural farm
on the Land Trust Road, in Bingham, Maine. The owners, Joseph
and
Sally
Baker, have been farming in Maine for 31 years. Joseph, originally
from Jamaica, loves farming. They have a small greenhouse
and they grow all organic vegetables. Their farm philosophy is:
"Being
organic
is better for the environment and for us."Joseph named his
farm 'Northwood Naturals' because they live in the woods in the
north,
and it's all-natural. They are at the Skowhegan Farmers' Market
every Saturday. All products left over from the weekly market
are sold
to the Middle East Restaurant in Cambridge MA.
Northwood Naturals grows:
Celery, tomatoes, beets, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, peas,
carrots, basil, lettuce, melon, sweet pepper, hot pepper, onions,
scallions, garlic, spinach, fennel, radish, cucumber, zucchini,
