Brightons' Farm Description
Brighton Farm is a 40 acre homestead, with five acres that goes to fruits and
vegetables. Our house is solar passive and we use mostly solar
energy. The farm has no big machinery like tractors, but we do
use small machinery and hand tools. We have been farming for twenty
years.
Although we do use organic practices, we are not certified
organic farmers. We use organic practices because we believe
that they are healthy for you, the soil, and the environment.
We also
treat our animals with organic methods.
We originally farmed
for self-sufficiency, but for the past seven years we have
been expanding
into the community. We sell our items at the Skowhegan Farmers’
Market, Waterville Farmers’ Market, and a road side farm
stand at our farm in Brighton. |
