" World Peace"
By Helen Marshall

This artwork represents a wish for world peace. There is a miniature styrofoam world in the center. Surrounding the world are three people of all different races:Negroid, Caucasian, and Asian. They are both boys and girls, men and women. They symbolize that world peace is wanted by all people, no matter if they are big, small, girl, boy, man, woman, Asian, American, or African. The materials for the world were easily found. I used a medium sized styrofoam ball as the actual world. I painted it all blue to symbolize the water, and then over that I used green paint to make the continents.
To make the people surrounding the world, I used sculpy clay for their bodies. After it was baked, I painted each one a different bright colored shirt, and individual faces. This gave it the effect and symbolism that the people would be happy and together as one, if there could be world peace.
As a supporter, I used blue clay to hold up the round world. I chose blue because it blended in with the world and did not stand out, so the spotlight was more on the actual world.
As a base, I used red cardboard because it brought out the red in the girls shirt, and made a nice contrast.
I selected world peace for my project because I have always thought that if we could have world peace, and all races and countries could get along, then everyone would be much better off. There would be much less fighting and disagreement and people could smile and think off all the wonderful things in the world. If we had world peace, it would make life easier for many people. There would be less death and sorrow. I think that it would be a spectacular thing, and maybe someday this dream will come true.
