Fidel Castro

Fidel Castro is thought by some to a hero but others do not agree with this. What did Castro really do for Cuba? From Mexico to Cuba, Castro made his point by leading a revolution.

In the beginning, Castro led a battle on July 26, 1953, with an assault on the military Monocada barracks in the easternmost Cuba. He was 26 years old when he led 150 young fighters to the Monocada barracks. Only 75 of them made it back alive. He was imprisioned and pardoned two years later.

After released, in Mexico, he trained his own army and prepared for guerrilla warfare against Baptista's army of Cuba. On December 2,1956, Castro and eighty-two others, boarded the Granma and landed in Cuba. Baptista's forces ruthlessly attacked pro-Castro towns which only stirred up more praise for the rebel leader, Castro. During the time Castro was thrown into exile, a man named Frank Pais was left in control.

France began to attack Baptista's army in any way they could, mostly the government in particular. On the date May 24, 1958, Batista Launched operation Verno. They then planned to enter the Sierra Maestra and forced Castro's rebels to a showdown between them. They extremely outnumbered them and the rebels repeatedly inflicted heavy casualties on the the army and pushed them back. A man Columbus, commanded by Fidel Castro, took an army unit many times their size. Batista's was totally unprepared for a conflict between the two, and their guerrilla warfare was powerful. They surrendered to Castro's forces. Batista decided to give up and fled to Spain, and then acquired a mass of $300 million. This was acquired through emblezzment and bribery. Then, after all, Fidel Castro won the Cuban revolution. He ruled then, and today, and probably for many years to come. I hope you enjoyed my piece on the Cuban revolution and how turned out .
