(Interviewers ) How has technology helped the church?

(Pastor) It Has helped our boards and our committees run more smoothly and more efficiently than ever. ( Interviewers) Do you think technology has changed the community?

(Pastor) Yes it has. It connects us through Internet and email, it has made it so that we can communicate without having to leave where we are.

Answer: Technology has changed the community by letting us easily communicate with other towns and cities. Just a couple years ago our church got together with other churches and other towns to collect clothing for hurricane victims. We had to communicate with the people who would be receiving the clothing and to communicate with the people who would be delivering it.

(Interviewers) Does your church have any community services?

(Pastor) Yes we do, this church has a large outreach program. At Thanksgiving we have Thanksgiving dinner baskets that we deliver to the needy. We also collect food for Christmas. Also at different times in the year we collect other things for the community.

(Interviewers)How has the role of the church changed over the past years?

(Pastor)Back in the 1950's the church was connected to everything that a person did. Today everything is not so tightly bound. Back then, people knew one another and their lives were integrated. Now people have all kinds of segmented activities and the integration is not there.

(Interviewers)What has been your most interesting experience as a pastor in this community?

(Pastor)Being an outsider and coming into this community. It was interesting to see how the people of the town accepted me as a person.

(Interviewers)Did you have any other choices where to have your service and if so why did you choose Skowhegan?

(Pastor)We had looked in a couple of other places and a man called us and told us about this place. But, we liked Skowhegan because of the challenge of following a 25 year pastorate.

(Interviewers)Approximately how many people attend your service?

(Pastor)When we first came there was an average of about 70 -75 people that attended but now we have 130-140 people on an average Sunday.
