Our Assignment:

Logging and River Driving On the Kennebec River in Maine

Congratulations, you have chosen to conduct research on the past days of logging and river driving along the Kennebec River. Your mission will include lots of reading and careful note-taking. You will need this in writing your paper and creating a mulit- media presentation for the class. In Skowhegan, there are still people who can provide primary source information. You will also read from a number of non fiction sources.

Phase 1 Read these books : Salt II River Driving In Maine (packet) The Upper Kennebec Valley Vol 2 by Jon Hall, Tall Men Tough Trees by R. Pike.

Watch video: "From Stump to Ship" (notes)Interview someone who was on the river drive or who was a past logger.

Phase 2 Write your final paper on logging and river driving. Complete final draft of your interview.

Your group should be ready to create your multi-media presentation. You may choose from IMovie, Webdesign or Apple Slideshow. Good Luck to you all!
