Logging and River
Driving On the Kennebec River in Maine Congratulations, you
have chosen to conduct research on the past days of logging and
river driving along the Kennebec River. Your mission will
include lots of reading and careful note-taking. You will need
this in writing your paper and creating a mulit- media presentation
for the class. In Skowhegan, there are still people who can provide
primary source information. You will also read from a number of
non fiction sources. Phase 1 Read
these books : Salt II River Driving In Maine (packet) The Upper
Kennebec Valley Vol 2 by Jon Hall, Tall Men Tough Trees by
R. Pike. Watch video: "From
Stump to Ship" (notes)Interview someone who was on the river
drive or who was a past logger. Phase 2
Write your final paper on logging and river driving.
Complete final draft of your interview. Your group should
be ready to create your multi-media presentation. You may choose
from IMovie, Webdesign or Apple Slideshow. Good Luck to you all!
