Francis Marion

Francis Marion was a great military leader from Berkeley County, South Carolina.His first experience was in a colonial militia.In his early life he lived on a farm with his family.He was born in 1732 and died in 1795 at 63 years of age.He was otherwise known as the Swamp Fox of the Revolution because the British could not catch him. He led them through swamps and marshes. He darted out of swamps and attacked.

Francis Marion was also a part of the Revolutionary War against the British.All of his attacks were successful against the Cherokee Indians and the British.He helped fight for freedom from the British in the American Revolution.Francis is famous because the British could not catch him through swamps and marshes and because of this the British gave him his nick-name the "Swamp Fox".He led a group of soldiers and he admired his men greatly.He said about them," No citizens in the world have done more than they have''.Francis Marion was a very serious man with a serious type scowl look on his face . He was very skinny and looks as if he were about 5'6" inches tall.He was very well behaved.

After the war he peacefully died on his plantation in South Carolina.Francis Marion was a famous military leader known as the Swamp Fox of the Revolution.He was successful in battle and helped win America's freedom.
