Molly Pitcher

Molly Pitcher was a famous woman in America's Revolution. Molly Pitcher was not her real name.Her real name was Mary Ludwig Hays. She was born near Philadelphia in 1754. She became a servant when she was young. She later died in 1832.

She later married Willam Hays. Her husband was in the army. She followed him around and helped the troops by sewing, washing and cooking. The troops got hot in the heat so Molly found water and brought them some and that's how she got her nickname. Her husband died of heat stroke in this battle known as the Battle of Monmouth.

Molly is always included in lists of famous women of the American Revolution.She was a person who liked to help others when involved in the war. She supported the soldiers. She will always be remembered as a famous American woman who carried water to help the troops
