Patrick had two brothers and their names were John and William. He also had seven younger sisters. When Patrick was a boy he liked to listen to birds sing and play music. He liked to play jokes and he enjoyed hunting. At school he was quiet. His parents came from Scotland. When Patrick was 15 he worked as a storekeeper. Patrick married Sarah Shelton when he was 18 and Sarah was 16. He had six kids to take care of. Patrick became a lawyer when he was 24. When Patrick Henry was 29 he went to the Virginian Provincial Convention in Virginia. Patrick Henry became famous because of these words: "Give me liberty or give me death". Patrick Henry believed that his freedom was worth more than life. Patrick Henry became part of our first Continental Congress. During the War, Patrick became Commander in Chief of Virginia's forces in 1775-1776. If it wasn't for Patrick Henry's speech we may not have broken from King George's rule. |
