Shower in the Mop Bucket
A True Narrative piece by J.M.

It was a normal day. I woke up, had breakfast, and went to school. In the afternoon Mr. Christopher, our gym teacher, burst through the door and yelled “Line up!” He was very early. We walked down to the gym like a train of kids.
We sat down on the floor in front of the white board.
Mr. Christhopher said, “today we were going to play Dodge ball.” I started worrying because last time I rammed into a wall, but I didn`t know that what was coming was much worse. Mr. Christopher explained the rules for the game.
We started playing Dodge ball. I ran as fast as I could , I found my self soaked and sitting in a mop bucket. Mr. Christopher helped me up.
I was soaked to the bone. Every one started laughing their heads off.
I felt like putting a paper bag on my head and crawling into a dark corner. The secretary led me to a square room. She handed me a sweater. I slipped it on. The sweater was itchy brown and yellow and it had fuzz balls. There were no pants so I had to wear wet pants all day.
It was the end of the day and I was finally at my house. I told my mom what had happened. She just chuckled and called me clumsy.
By the next day I was laughing with the other kids. I am glad it happened or I wouldn`t have had anything to laugh about.

Swish in a Dish
An Article By: J.M.

I personally detest the school’s fluoride. It is a grave situation. Some kids want the swish because it good for them, but some say it tastes nasty. I asked some of my friends and this is what they had to say:
"I like bubble gum and root beer , but I don`t like mint, it burns my tongue.” Another friend said;
“If I had a choice, I would take it any ways because I don`t take it at home like I am suppose to.” Another friend.
”I don`t take fluoride because it tastes nasty,”said another 5th grader.
I think more people would take fluorides and have healthier teeth if we had more flavors and got to choose the type of fluoride we want. What do you think?

I Dress My Way, You Dress Your Way
An Article by J.T.
What makes you different? Is it your curly hair or your hazel eyes? What makes me different is the way I dress, the way I combine all my favorite styles and create one big style... ME!!
I wouldn't change a thing. some people dress preppy and others dress casual. Some people dress girlie. I dress my way, and you dress your way! That is the way it is. Personally I prefer a mud-stained jersey to a pink tank-top ant day. Some people would rather wear red lip-gloss than black fingernail polish. That is the way it is. That is the way it will always be. That is okay!
But some people think that they can push people around and use their “dorky sweater” as an excuse. Others think to feel good they have to push people around, taunt, tease and harass people who are different. Nobody likes to threatened. Nobody likes to feel bad about how they look. Higher authorities think they have found a solution.
Dress codes! Uniforms! these words sound like torture to people who don't let bullies bother them. People who are teased breath a sigh of relief. What do you think?

Friend or Foe?
An Article by B.C.
How are we going to stand this any more? There are so many things wrong in the animal world. There is abuse, hunting, testing, caging, car hitting, pollution, loss of habitat, over-fishing, killing just to kill, and animals dying because of old age.
Some of these things cannot be helped. We can surely try! We can pick up trash and pay more attention while driving. Mother Nature has had animals eat other animals. That is the main cause of endangered species.
I love animals and hope to be a veterinarian when I grow older. So please consider what I said and please try to do your best for the animals' world.
