The Instructors

 

Alaine Roselle, RNBS, joined the Skowhegan Regional Vocational Center in 1997. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Maine at Farmington in 1990. Her previous work experience was at Lutheran Medical Center in New York and Redington-Fairview General Hospital of Skowhegan, Maine. She has experience in both the Nursing and Health Education departments.


Mrs. Roselle is a member of the Maine Health Occupations Education Association and continues to work in the Recovery Unit at RFGH, thus maintaining Registerd Nurse competencies.

 

 

Health Care Careers is composed of two distinct one-year Curriculum Pathways. Students choose the path which meets his or her needs.


AM Session

The Nursing Assistance Curriculum

• Approved by the Maine State Board of Nursing.

• Offers the States Nursing Assistant Curriculum, Competency Evaluation and Registry placement.

• Includes exploration of related careers.

 

Students in this program will:
• Learn basic and intermediate patient care skills while working at local health care facilities supervised by SRVC’s Health Care Career registered nurse Clinical Site Supervisors.

• CNA status demonstrates a student’s commitment to study and hard work, and affords students immediate job opportunities.

 

Job Shadows Facilities Clinical Experiences

• Close collaboration with Redington Fairview General Hospital’s Education Staff for the majority of Job Shadows and Facilitated

Clinical Experiences.

• Other Job Shadows are planned with various Physicians, Veterinarians, and Dental Offices.

• The Nursing Assistant’s clinical work experiences are conducted by SRVC’s Clinical Site Supervisors. Each supervisor is a R.N. with current work experience and updated R.N. competencies in a variety of fields.

SRVC’s Health Care Careers Program offers students:

 

Knowledge
• Keen insight into a variety of health care careers
• An understanding of the integration of multiple health care disciplines

Skills
• Learn basic to intermediate patient communication techniques and patient care skills
• Learn CPR, first aid, basic anatomy and physiology, and study the concepts of health promotion and disease prevention

 

Experience
• Job Shadows
• Facilitated Clinical Experience
• Health related community service projects
